Bio
Tex Ferris, 72, of Amarillo died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Calvary Christian Fellowship in Shamrock with Bro. Joe Jernigan officiating. Burial will be in Shamrock Cemetery. Arrangements are by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Tex was born June 9, 1940, in Kellerville to Ben and Nora Ferris. He was raised in Shamrock. He spent 20 years in Oklahoma City, where he married Candy Wiggins on June 15, 1984. There, Tex worked as a printer for 15 years until his retirement in 1988. He and Candy moved back to Shamrock, where he enjoyed working with children and served as a Scout Master and a Girl Scout leader. He was a talented cook and loved to read. Survivors include his wife, Candy Ferris of Shamrock; a son, Randy Wiggins and wife AnnMarie of Winter Haven, Fla.; a son, George Ferris; a daughter, Yavonda Ferris; a sister, Betty Felton of Amarillo; a brother, Howard Ray Ferris of Hemit, Calif.; and three grandchildren, Emily, Addisyn and Lea. He was preceded in death by his parents; nine brothers; two sisters, Mary Jones and Norene Smith; and two sons, Stephen Ferris and Adam Wiggins. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today in Calvary Christian Fellowship Church in Shamrock. Amarillo Globe-News, Nov. 20, 2012
