Bio

ORD — Matilda Polak, 87, of Ord passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2018, at the CHI Good Samaritan Health Center in Kearney. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord. Father John Kakkuzhiyil will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord Catholic Cemetery. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Matilda was born March 17, 1930, on the family farm near Elyria to Thomas and Katherine (Gregorski) Paprocki. She was raised on the family farm and received her education at rural school District #33. Matilda worked on the farm until moving into Ord. She cleaned homes, the Beranek Drug Store; and the medical clinics of Dr. Martin and Dr. Miller. On May 31, 1958, Matilda was united in marriage to Joseph “Joe” Polak at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Elyria. The couple made their home in Ord. Joe passed away on December 12, 2006. Matilda continued to live in her home until her passing. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and WFLA #14. She enjoyed playing cards and listening to Polka music. Survivors include a son, Joseph Polak of Hastings; a daughter, Deborah Polak of Salt Lake City, Utah; two sisters, Frances Karwacki of Johnson Creek, Wisconsin and Dommie Michalski of Ord; and a brother and sister-in-law, Joe and June Paprocki of Ord. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe; a brother, John Paprocki; two half brothers, James and Edmund Paprocki; half sister, Angie Liskowski; and an infant sister, Florence Paprocki.
