☆～ VETERAN, KOREAN WAR (1950-1953) ～☆ Donald was born to George Behne and Mary Liska on a farm north of Brainard. He graduted from Dwight Public Schools in 1944. He enlisted in the United States Army, serving in the Korean War from 1951-1952. Don married Martha Zavodny on September 22-1953 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Brainard, NE. They lived on the farm until 2016 when Don moved to David City. Don farmed, drove a school bus, served on the Oak Creek township board, drove a semi that hauled livestock to the Omaha Stock yards, drove for the Schlitz Beer Company adn Frontier Coop in Brainard. Don was a member of the Brainard Fire Department, Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the Brainard American Legion Rejda Post 273 for 64 years. Preceded in death by wife, Martha; parents: George & Martha Behne; brothers, Ernest and George Behne; sister in law, Mavis Behne; daughter in law, Cindy Behne. Survived by children, Donald (Patricia) Behne, Duane Behne, Doug (Tiffany) Behne, Darlen (Tom) Trojan, Denise (Nathan) Schroeder and David Behne "Sharon"; brother, Dean Behne; sisters in law, Doris Behne, Genevieve Behne and Helen Zavodny; 12 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
