December 18, 2017 Edwin J. Penas, 82, of Lincoln, passed away peacefully at home on December 18, 2017. Ed married his soul mate Lois Halla on June 22, 1957, and has now happily rejoined her in their eternal home. He retired from the University of Nebraska as a soil specialist and was a proud member of Saint John's Catholic Church. Ed's hobbies included woodworking, Husker sports, visiting Nebraska wineries and drinking Nebraska wine. Survivors include daughters, Ann (Randy) Dunham of Bennet, Carol Penas of Lincoln, Elaine Penas of Kansas City, Missouri, Joy (Richard) Ferrington of Blair, Patricia (Jeff) Kissinger of Lincoln; sons, Allen (Susan) Penas of Lincoln, Ronald (Gloria) Penas of Fort Calhoun; six grandchildren, Elizabeth Penas, Joshua (Samantha) Penas, Alexandria Ferrington, Lauren Ferrington, Jake Penas, Molly Penas; one great-granddaughter, Claire Penas; sister, Dorothy Ross of Longmont, Colorado; brother, Richard (Linda) Penas of Columbus. Preceded in death by parents; wife, Lois; brother, Paul Penas and brother-in-law, Fred Ross. Rosary will be 7 p.m. Friday, January 12, at Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 13, at Saint John's Catholic Church, 76th & Vine St, Father Lyle Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 6-7p.m. Friday at the funeral home and Saturday 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church. Memorials to family for further designation.
