GRAND ISLAND — Jodie J. Butterfield, 52, of Grand Island died Thursday, March 18, 2010, at his home. Memorial services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Curran Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Mark Maresh will officiate. Visitation will be after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. Military rites will be by the United Veterans Honor Guard. Jodie was born March 4, 1958, at Creighton. He was the son of Bernard and Donna (Rathjen) Butterfield. Jodie grew up in Creighton, attending Creighton High School. He played football throughout his high school years and graduated in 1976. He entered the U.S. Navy on Jan. 18, 1977, serving until his honorable discharge on Feb. 8, 1979. He made Grand Island his home. Jodie married Sandra Jones on Sept. 11, 1981, at Grand Island. They lived in Grand Island, and Jodie was employed in the trucking industry. For the past several years he was working security. He was an avid sports fan, football being his favorite. Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Sandra Butterfield of Grand Island; two daughters, Lyndsay Butterfield and her special friend, Jorge Corral of Grand Island, Candice Butterfield of Grand Island; his mother and stepfather, Donna and Robert “Bob” Sanne of Tilden; one brother and sister-in-law, Allen and Mary Butterfield of Lincoln; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Carla and Larry Kuehn of Alvo, Beth and Tom Gardner of Doniphan. He was preceded in death by his father.
