The Creighton News 19 June 1996 Funeral services for Bernard A. Butterfield, 62, Plainview were held June 17 at Zion Lutheran Church in Creighton with Rev. Paul Banitt officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery in Creighton. He died June 13 at his home after a lengthy illness. Pallbearers were Mitch Wragge, Dwayne Falter, Jean Rupp, Bob Krepel, Lawrence Jensen and Bruce Bennett. Bernard Allen Butterfield was born May 12, 1934 at Venus to Lloyd and Hattie (Caskey) Butterfield. He graduated from Creighton High School in 1951. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1955. He married Donna Rathjen January 31, 1954 at Zion Lutheran Church in Creighton. They farmed in the Creighton and Plainview area. He worked as a meat cutter at Paul's Market and most recently Mitch's Food Center in Plainview. He enjoyed family, friends and fishing. Survivors include his wife, Donna; children and spouses, Tom and Beth Gardner, Jodie and Sandy Butterfield, all of Grand Island, Allen and Mary Butterfield of Council Bluffs and Larry and Carla Kuehn of Lincoln; his mother, Hattie Butterfield of Creighton; six grandchildren; brother, Harold of Sioux Falls, SD and sister, Mrs. Eugene (Ellen) Love of Madison.
