Bio
Allen D. Dukes, age 95, was born January 3, 1922 in the Wadesville, Oklahoma, community to D.H. "Shub" Dukes and Pearl (Bohanon) Dukes. He married the love of his life, Hazel Mozelle Humphreys, on March 15, 1947 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Allen was, first and foremost, a very kind Christian man who could always be counted on as a Kiamichi Valley community member, helping anyone in need. He was a veteran, having served in the European theater during WWII. Allen was a lifetime member of the Talihina Masonic Lodge #73. He retired from federal service at the PHS Talihina Indian Hospital, where he served as a pharmacy technician, property and supply specialist and administrative officer. He was Choctaw Indian and a pillar member of the Whitesboro Baptist Church. Allen always strove to have an spotless reputation in the community and was thought highly of by all--his was a happy and full life. Allen is survived by his son of the home, Terry Battiest, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives; and a host of friends. Allen "Skay" is preceded in death by his parents, wife, siblings; Charlotte "Pood" Barrett, Lloyd "Ab" Dukes; Catherine "Rene" Harris; Everett "John" Dukes, and Mozell "Bill" Henry; and a special sister-in-law Lena Thirkill. Services will be held on Tuesday, January 2nd, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at the Whitesboro Baptist Church with Bro. David Gibson officiating. Interment will follow at the Old Talihina City Cemetery.
