Funeral services for Charlotte J. Barrett , 85, of Talihina will be held Friday, Dec 31, 2004 at 2 p.m. at Faith Pentecostal Holiness Church in Talihina, with Rev. Joseph Mullins officiating. Interment was at Whitesboro Cemetery in Whitesboro, Okla., under the direction of Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell. Mrs. Barrett died Dec. 27, 2004 at her daughter’s home in Purcell. She was born May 27, 1919 in Whitesboro, the oldest of six children of D. H. Dukes and Pearl Rose (Bohannon) Dukes. She graduated from Whitesboro High School in 1938. Mrs. Barrett later married and worked as a homemaker rearing five children. For a number of years, her family lived in California. For the past 30 years she had lived in Talihina where she was active in the Ladies Auxiliary and the senior adults. Mrs. Barrett was proud of her Indian heritage and enjoyed telling stories to her grandchildren about the past. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Judy Kennedy, and two brothers, Lloyd and Everett Dukes. Survivors include two daughters, Bobbie Fox, and her husband, Jerry, of Purcell, and Wanda Crow of Prague; two sons, Eddie Barrett and his wife, Betty, of Carson City, Nevada; Buddie Barrett of Sacramento, Calif.; a son-in-law, Jack Kennedy of Whitesboro; two sisters, Catherine Harris and her husband, Lee ,of Checotah; and Mozelle Henry and her husband, Patrick, of Virginia; one brother, Allen Dukes of Talihina; 17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. --The Purcell Register, Thurs, Dec 30, 2004, page 13
