Funeral services for Carlene Gayle Escher, 62 of Clute will be held Wednesday, December 20th in the chapel of Palms Funeral Home in Angleton at 10am. Burial will follow at Angleton Cemetery. A viewing is scheduled for Tuesday, December 19th in the chapel of Palms Funeral Home in Angleton from 5pm-8pm. Carlene was born on February 4, 1955 to Arnold and Doris(Teykl) Eda in Richmond Texas. She was raised and attended school in Needville Texas, earning her GED later in life from Brazosport College. She worked for many years as a waitress at Jay’s Restaurant and Preuss’ Western Corral in Needville before moving to Angleton where she worked at Frank’s Country Inn and later MeMaw’s Kitchen. She worked for a time at Vallen Safety Supply in Clute before becoming a homemaker and stay at home Mom. Carlene is preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Doris Eda and her daughter, Stacy Renee Cox. She is survived by her husband of thirty years and the love of her life, Dale Escher of Clute, daughter, Shannon Lilley of Sweeny and husband Lee, brother Gerald Eda and wife Sara of Richmond, sister Denise Vaclavik and husband David of Richmond, and sister Dana Russell of Brazoria. Carlene is also survived by the apple of her eye, grandson, Dustin Lilley of Sweeny. Nephews are Jeremy, Jonathan, and Jeffrey Eda, John Vaclavik, and James Russell. Nieces include Emily Vaclavik and Ashley Russell and a whole host of relatives and friends. Carlene would want everyone to celebrate her life and remember her laughter or that streak of mischief that was always present in her soul. She asked that no one cry for her because she’s where she belongs now; pain free, disease free, and with her Lord and Savior. She’s walking in that beautiful field of flowers she always talked about. It’s not goodbye, it’s see you soon.
