Bio

Irene D. Kopystynsky, 91, of Grand Island died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017, at Tiffany Square Center. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Pauls Lutheran Church. The Rev. William Pavuk will officiate. Burial of ashes will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. All Faiths Funeral Home is serving the family. Irene was born Sept. 9, 1926, at Belgrade, the daughter of Charles and Emma (Hellbusch) Moyer. She was raised and received her education in Belgrade before moving to Grand Island. In 1945 she was united in marriage to Walter Kopystynsky. To this union they were blessed with three sons, Robert, Walter (Chuck) and Michael. They raised their family in Grand Islan, where she worked for Burger King on Webb Road. Later they moved to Omaha and Irene continued working for Burger King for over 25 years. She had a great working relationship with her general manager, Chad, whom she adored. Walter and Irene enjoyed camping. Irene also enjoyed crocheting and her lunches with her friends from Ada Street Apartments. Most of all, she enjoyed time spent with family. Survivors include her sons and their families, Robert (Marty Zimmerman) Kopystynsky of Omaha, Chuck (Vikki) Kopystynsky of Omaha and Michael (Terri) Kopy of Parkville, Mo.; four grandchildren, Robert (Beth) Kopystynsky, Kara Kopystynsky, Brian (Angela) Kopy and Katie (Willie) O’Quinn; 15 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Arthrene (Phil) Wagner of Council Bluffs, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, in 1998; her parents; and sisters, Ella Mae Schwieger, (Tutti) Dorothy Walgren and Geraldine Johnson.
