In Memory of Bernie Elwood McElroy April 18, 1931 - November 9, 2017 Bernie Elwood McElroy of Pasadena, Texas, was born April 18, 1931 in Mexia, Texas, passed to heaven on November 9, 2017. He graduated from Mexia High School. After graduating he joined the Air Force where he was stationed in Guam during the Korean War. Bernie met Helen Blanyer who he later married on April12, 1957 at Park Place Baptist Church in Houston. Together they had five children. He worked at Shell Oil Company and Premier Petro Chemical Company and retired in 1993 from Shell. He was a member of South Avenue Baptist church in Pasadena. Bernie is survived by his children; Kathleen Crenshaw and husband Howard, John McElroy Sr. and wife Lindy, Douglas McElroy and wife Lori, Bobby McElroy and wife Nicki, daughter-in-law Stephanie McElroy, 15 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren with one on the way. He is preceded in death by his son Gregory McElroy, parents Thomas and Nora Etta McElroy, in-laws George and Nauvie Blanyer, 4 sisters, and 1 brother. Bernie enjoyed fishing, building things, and spending time with his friends. The family would like to thank Faith Community Hospice and especially Nurse Sandy and aide Doris for all they did. Funeral Service will be held at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home on Monday, November 13, 2017 at 2 pm, with a viewing an hour prior to the service, officiated by Bro. J. Hail and Chaplain Paul Southerland. Interment will immediately follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home
