The Hooker Advance Hooker, Oklahoma 15 Nov 1928, Thursday Page 1 GRANDMA RICHARD PASSED AWAY TUESDAY MORNING The community was shocked and saddened Tuesday moning by the death of Mrs. Louisa Jane Richard, who quietly passed away at the home of Mrs. G. E. Richard that morning. Mrs. Richard had not been well since a fall some weeks ago, when she suffered a fractured hip, and has failed rapidly since the death of her son, George Richard, who passed away a week ago Sunday. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Methodist church and interment made in the Hooker cemetery. The whole community extends sympathy to the great bereaved ones in this hour of sorrow. Louisa Jane Lee, born in Peoria county, Ill., Feb. 19, 1850, died at the home of her son G. E. Richard with whom she had made her home the past six years, and who preceeded her Nov. 4, 1928, at the Epworth hospital in Liberal, Kanans. She sustained an injury four weeks ago previous to her death, resulting in a broken hip from which she never recovered. She was married to Eugene T. Richard March 3, 1867, who died Nov. 30, 1918. To this union six children were born, Delmar dying in infancy, Margaret and Elizabeth in the prime of life. She leaves to mourn her loss one daughter, Mrs. E. G. Murry, of Van Wert, Iowa, a son, T. J. Richard, of Wichita, Kansas, a nephew, Thos. J. Patterson, who has made his home with her for the past 20 years. Fourteen grandchildren, nine great-grand children, two sisters, two brothers, besides other relatives and a host of friends. She was converted in early life and united with the Methodist Episcopal church at VanWert, Iowa, afterwards moving her membership to Hooker. Grandma Richards's great desire was to live the Golden Rule and her parting words were praise to her Lord and Master. During her lingering her suffering was borne patiently with prayer and praise on her lips. All that loving hands could do was with no avail and she peacefully passed to the great beyond. Her daughter, Mrs. E. G. Murry, Mrs. G. E. Richard and children, Mrs. Hattie Spiller, Rolland Richard and T. J. Patterson, were at her bedside when the end came. Card of Thanks We desire to express our appreciation and heartfelt thanks to the many friends who so kindly assisted us in every way in our recent sorrow, and also wish to thank those who sent the beautiful flowers. - Mrs. E.
