LaVerne S. Roten (age 90) of San Antonio passed away on March 9, 2007. She was born on January 23, 1917 in Broken Bow, Nebraska. LaVerne graduated from Hastings College, Hastings, Nebraska where she majored in journalism. She married Bill Roten in 1942 and lived in San Antonio for over fifty years. After his death, she married Dr. H. Gayle Copsey and moved to Spokane, WA where she resided for twelve years. Health concerns brought her back to San Antonio last year to be closer to her family. Mrs. Roten was a member of the Coker United Methodist Church for many years, she was also a member of the P.E.O. for 70 years. She was known for her quick wit humorous typed letters and odes for special occasions. She became well known for her creative meals and recipes. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Scott and Pearl Johnson Schneringer, husband, Joseph William Roten and brother, Norval M. Schneringer. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Roten, sons and daughter-in-law, Larry and Nancy Roten and Robert and Beth Roten; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
