He was born on April 21, 1927 to Ely and Henrietta Wesely. He recently celebrated his 90th birthday with a joyous celebration with many family members and friends. Born on his family’s farm near Cedar Bluffs, Nebraska, Ray Wesely was a farmer at heart. He helped his father work their family farm before working his own farms. Reluctantly he left farming in 1959 to move his family to Lincoln where he worked a number of jobs before working at Goodyear for 25 years until he retired in 1989. One thing is for sure about Ray Wesely, he was a hard worker. At Goodyear he would take double shifts and as much overtime as he could to provide for his family of four children and his wife Irene. They were married just short of 60 years when she passed away in 2013. Ray Wesely was a wonderful father, grandfather and great grandfather. He devoted his life to his family. After retirement he spent a great deal of time with his wife Irene attending their children’s, grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s activities and events. Ray Wesely was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Ray Wesely is survived by: sisters, Irene Palensky and Marcene Havelka; children, Don, Jim (Kathy) Wesely, Dave (Sue) Wesely, Linda (Al) Johnson; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren. Ray Wesely was beloved by his family. He was kind, caring, funny, sweet and thoughtful. He loved polka music, playing his accordion and playing the card game Pitch with his family. His death is a great loss to his family. Funeral services on Monday, September 25, 2017, at St. John’s Catholic Church. Obituary information from Butherus, Maser and Love Funeral Home.
