Bio

Evelyn (Machovsky) Muehlstein, age 96, of West, passed away late Sunday afternoon, September 10, 2017 at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Waco. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 14, 2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. A lifelong resident of West, Evelyn was born July 4, 1921 in West the daughter of John and Mary (Hykel) Machovsky. She attended St. Mary's School and was a graduate of West High School. During World War II, she was united in marriage to P1C Arthur Marak on July 26, 1943. They were stationed in Alabama and the Panama Canal. Arthur preceded her in death. Evelyn was a seamstress for Lorch Manufacturing in West, where she received a 20 year service pin in 1978, and continued there until they closed in 1991. On March 13, 1994 she was united in marriage to Johnny F. Muehlstein in West. Johnny preceded her in death on March 24, 2007. Evelyn was a lifelong and faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, where she was a member of St. Cecilia's Choir, St. Anne's Altar Society and helped prepare the Church Bulletins each week. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughter's of America Court #829, SPJST Lodge #6 in Cottonwood, RVOS Lodge #48, FCSLA, McLennan/Hill Czech Heritage Society, a West Library Volunteer and the Ladies Garden Club in West. Evelyn enjoyed baking cakes, trying new recipes, growing flowers in her yard, sewing, caring for her home, collecting bells and decorating for the seasons, especially Christmas. She loved traveling, going on casino trips, playing dominoes and bingo, listening to Czech music, attending church and polka festivals, attending the Hykel family reunion and visiting with family and friends. Evelyn is also preceded in death by her parents; a niece, Janice Caldwell; a sister, Elenora Muehlstein; and a great nephew, Jeremy Caldwell. Survivors include her nephews, Frankie Muehlstein Jr. and wife Barbara of China Spring and Patrick Muehlstein and wife Jackie of Longview; nieces, Rita Pustejovsky and husband Erwin of West, Mary Marusak and husband George of Georgetown and Betty Page and husband Gary of Waco; a nephew-in-law, Jerry Caldwell of Temple; many great nieces and nephews; and great great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
