Peter Sr Greder (1873-1953) Obituary: Peter Sr Greder, 79, died at home in Ainsworth, NE after an illness of several years on July 4, 1953. Peter Greder, son of Jacob Sr and Katherine Klein Greder, was born on August 30, 1873 in Mietesheim, Alsace, Germany. In 1887, at the age of 14 years, he came with his parents to America and settled in Astor, Iowa. On February 25, 1985 he married Salome Deiber. Peter and Salome Deiber Greder had 13 children: (1) Helen (Mrs Ben Mitchell; Dow City, (2) John Fred (Denison), (3) Arthur (Lincoln, NE), (4) Peter Jr (Buck Grove), (5) Edna (Mrs Gus Hitz; Lincoln, NE), (6) Clara, who preceded her father in death, (7) Anna (Mrs Fred Pokorny; Ainsworth), (8) Walter (Denison), (9) Mildred (Mrs Henry Lietz; Sac City), (10) Selma (Art Kachmeister; Johnstown), (11) David (Johnstown, NE), (12) Kenneth (Ainsworth) and (13) Paul (Clovis, California). Mr Peter Sr Greder lived with his family near Buck Grove, Iowa until 1922 when they moved to NE and settled in Keya Paha county. In 1934, he moved near Ainsworth in Brown county, where they made their home until 1943 when he retired and moved to Ainsworth. Mr Greder was baptized in the Lutheran faith and was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran church in Washington township, Iowa. Besides his wife and children, he leaves 41 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters (Kate Deiber of Denison, and Salome Ruch of Vail), 1 brother (Jacob Jr of Denison), and 1 sister-in-law (Mate Carstens Greder of Oxnard, CA). Pallbearers were grandsons: (1) Leslie Greder, (2) Albert Hitz, (3) Roger Greder, (4) Carl Hitz, (5) Vernon Greder and (6) Marvin Jensen. The funeral, which was held July 8, was under the direction of Rev Robbert of the Lutheran church. Burial was in the ?Ainsworth cemetery. Out-of-town people attending the funeral were Mrs Emily Spack and Clifford Spack of Aspinwall, Mrs Edwin Jochimsen and Mrs Clarence Staller of Denison; Mr and Mrs Phillip Didier, Ben Greder and Mr and Mrs Alfred Hast of Buck Grove, Henry Asmus and Emil Greder of Denison, Mr and Mrs Richard Weise of Arion and Mr and Mrs George Nightingale of Omaha.
