Bio
Mildred Martha (Dieber) Lietz (1912 - 1993) Mildred Martha Lietz, the daughter of Peter Greder and Salome Dieber, was born Feb. 2, 1912, at Denison, Ia. She attended the country schools near her childhood home. Mildred was united in marriage to Henry William Lietz at Odebolt on Dec. 29, 1937. She and Henry made their home on a farm near Webb until moving to Spencer in 1969. She was a member of First English Lutheran Church in Spencer. Mildred passed away in Spencer on Feb. 3, 1993, at the age of 81. Preceding her in death were her parents; four brothers, Fred, Peter, Arthur and Walter; and four sisters, Clara, Selma, Ann and Edna. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Henry; one son and his wife, Norman and Deanna of Marathon; two daughters, Norma Jean and her husband, Ronald Whalen of Spencer and Carol and her husband, Ted Janes of LeMars; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen Mitchell of Dow City; three brothers, Kenneth of North Platte, Neb., David of Johnstown, Neb., and Paul of Clovis, Calif., as well as other relatives and friends. Services were held Friday, Feb. 5 at 2 p.m. at First English Lutheran Church in Spencer with Reverend Walter Quandt and Reverend Chris Gugel, officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery in Spencer.
