Obituary of James Read ~~James Henry Read, 91, of Jasper was born December 21, 1925, in Colmesneil to George Clayborn Read and Ora Lee Peace Read. He passed away peacefully at home on August 7, 2017. James is survived by his daughters Shirley Marie Read, Joyce Ann “Jody” Read, Barbara Gail Simons, Sandra Kay Read Moody; sons James Claiborne Read and wife Beverly, Billy Jack Read, Roger Dale Read and wife Kendra, David Wayne Read and wife Cathy; grandchildren John Henry Morrow, Jamie Lee McCarrell, Jason William McCarrell, Michelle Nicole McCarrell, Marcus Shane Bradshaw, Leslie Sevela Stanley, Robert Daniel Michael, Travis Franklin Michael, Christan Faith Moody, Kimberly Darlene Giles, Rebekka Leanne Read; sisters, Sara Lee Cowart and Vera Marie Jordan; sisters-in-law, Mary Lee Read, Dorothy Nell Austin, Bobbie Williams; 14 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. He is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Leslie Read; his parents; and brothers, James Harold Read and Attle Allen Read. Serving as pallbearers will be Ken Stanley, Gavin Stanley, Marcus Bradshaw, Alex Bradshaw, Jason McCarrell, Visitation for James will be Thursday, August 10, 2017 from 6pm until 8pm. Services will be held at Riley Funeral Home Chapel at 10am on Friday, August 11, 2017. James Henry will be laid to rest at Ebenezer Cemetery.
