Mathew Crabtree served in Company A of the 10th Iowa Infantry as a Private from 21 Aug 1861 to 25 Mar 1863, discharged at Cincinnati, Ohio. His Grand Army of the Republic Membership Records show his parents as John B. 18 Feb 1794 Yorkshire England D. 28 Jan 1859 and Mary B. 18 Feb 1797 Yorkshire, England D. 3 Nov 1882 Indianola, Red Willow, Nebraska, USA. His wife was Susanna Minnick she is buried in Plot: Section H, Block 58, Grave 4 - Memorial# 18175331. They were married 19 Feb 1840 in Perry, Ohio and lived in Polk County, Iowa until about 1889 when they moved to Fort Calhoun, Washington, Nebraska where he is found on the 1890 United States Census of Union Veterans and Widows of the Civil War.
