Herbert W. Stallard Sr., 61, Defiance, died Monday afternoon in Defiance Hospital. He was born October 21, 1929, in Coeburn, Virginia, the son of Leonard and Gertrude (Patten) Stallard. In 1955, he married Dolores Mayo, who survives. He served in the Air Force and was a coordinator at Campbell Soup Co., Napoleon, retiring in 1973 due to health reasons. He was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church. Also surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Norman (Lynda) Donnelly of Napoleon, Mrs. Steve (Dana) Smith and Shirl Sigley, both of Defiance, and Mrs. Ernie (Denise) Raines of Williamsburg, Kentucky; five sisters, Mrs. Vernon (Stella) Short, Mrs. Daniel (Agnes) Brickley and Mrs. W.R. (Janice) Greear all of Coeburn, Virginia, Mrs. W..B. (Elizabeth) Ward of Knoxville, Tennessee and Mrs. James (Iris) Greear of Defiance and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Herbert Jr.; five brothers, Lowell Lee, Hardick, Furl and Farrell; and two sisters, Lorena Lawrence and Vivian Stallard. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the church with Revs. Gene Osborne and Allen Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in Ayersville Cemetery. Defiance Crescent-News Tuesday, September 24, 1991
