Florence “Tink” LaVern McDowell, 84, of Marshalltown, IA passed away Saturday, August 9, 2014, at Grandview Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Anderson Funeral Homes, 405 West Main Street, Marshalltown. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at Anderson Funeral Homes, 405 West Main Street. Online condolences may be sent to www.andersonfhs.com. Tink was born April 20, 1930 in Decatur City, Iowa to Richard Commodore and Bessie Lena (Palmer) Kelly. She graduated from Van Wert High School in 1948, relocating to Marshalltown shortly after where she spent several years working for Marshalltown Manufacturing. On September 24, 1949, Tink was united in marriage to Ray D. McDowell. Tink was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. She never met a stranger, and had a way of making friends with everyone she met. She always had a cheerful smile that would brighten everyone's day. Left to cherish Tink's memory are her two sons, Kevin (Telisa) McDowell of Medford, OK and Brent (Ronda) McDowell of Marshalltown, IA; daughter-in-law Dianne McDowell of Marshalltown, IA; two grandchildren, Joel (Carrie) McDowell of Shakopee, MN and Stacie (Dion) Perry of Marshalltown, IA; and five great grandchildren, Brittian, Jacob, Mickelle, Braydon and Taelyn. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ray McDowell, son, Floyd McDowell and sisters, Patricia Kelly and Sharilyn Eddy.
