Bio

Joe D. Gibson, 66, of Henderson, passed away April 12, 2005, in a Longview hospital. He was born April 20, 1938, in Hallsville, to Clarence and Molly Waldron Gibson. He was a 1957 graduate of Hallsville High School, and a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he was stationed in Germany. He retired from Lucent Technology, and was a member of VFW post 4002, the Communication Workers of America, and Little Flock Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Emmel Gibson of Henderson; his son, Joe David Gibson of Henderson; one daughter, Della Modisette and her husband, Bret, of Grand Prairie; three brothers, Marlin Gibson of Longview, Richard Gibson of Carthage, and Tom Gibson of Gilmer; four sisters, Iva Winchester of Longview, Jeanette Wolfe of Eufala, Ala., Nelma Owen of Panama City Beach, Fla., and Judy Brunson of Carrolton; one grandson, Daniel Lee Simpson; and three great-granddaughters, Kennedi, Maggie, and Madison. Services will be held 10:00 a.m. today, Thursday, April 14, 2005, in Lakeview Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Hal Brunson and Tom Gibson officiating. Entombment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to The American Kidney Foundation, or The Highway 80 Rescue Mission. (from Longview News-Journal website)
