Herman L. Nesloney, son of Emil NESLONEY and Zofia "Sophia" WOSTAL, was born January 17, 1891 in Monthalia, Gonzales County, Texas. He was married November 26, 1919 in Gonzales County, Texas to Adela TRENKELBACH, daughter of Charles "Carl" TRENKELBACH and and Emma HESSARD; she was the step-daughter of W. M. SCHENKEWITZ. Herman died on December 13, 1937 in the Leona Community, Nueces County, Texas. Obituary Gonzales Inquirer Dec. 17, 1937 Herman Nesloney Passes Away Relatives here received a message stating Herman Nesloney had passed away at his home in Orange Grove Monday, Dec. 13, and was buried there in the Catholic cemetery Wednesday morning. Mr. Nesloney was born and reared in Monthalia. He was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Nesloney formerly of Monthalia. His wife was the former Miss Adela Semkeiwtz. He with his family moved to Orange Grove about four years ago. He was a staunch Catholic all his life. He was about 50 years of age. Besides his parents he leaves his wife, two daughters six brothers, an adopted sister and numerous other relatives. Owing to the very bad weather none of the relatives from this county could attend the funeral. Obituary Gonzales Inquirer Dec. 18, 1937 Herman Nesloney World War Vet Laid to Ret Herman Nesloney, resident of the Leona Community, died on December 13, at 10 o'clock Monday morning. Funeral services were held at 10 o'clock with RequiemHigh Mass on Dec. 15th at the Orange Grove Catholic Church. His pastor, Father J. Holler man officiated. Burial was held in the Orange Grove cemetery under the direction of Meyer Mortuary of Alice, Texas. A military funeral was held, the American Legion Post in Alice in charge of which Mr. Nesloney was a member. Company G. of the Robstown National Guard fired the Salute. The pallbearers were Legionnaires. He was called to help save our country on Feb. 26, 1918 and returned on April15th, 1919. He served with Co. L. 90th Division, 360th. Infantry. He saw several months of service in France, being slightly wounded, she'll shocked and gazed while there. His health failed the past three years and the last four months of his life he was confined to his bed. Though very sick he took it cheerfully till the end came. Mr Nesloney, was born at Monthalia, in Gonzales county on Jan. 17, 1891, being 46 years, 10 months and 26 days of age. He resided at Monthalia until the fall of 1931, when he and his family moved to Orange Grove where he made his home. On November 26th, 1919, he was wedded to Amelia Schenkeinetz. To this union were born four children, all living. Survivors of Mr. Nesloney are his dear wife, two daughters and two sons, Irene 17, Rudolph, 14, Erwin 9, and Earnestine, 7, beside his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Nesloney and six brothers, Charlie, Walter, Henry, Albert, Tom and Joe. Many lovely floral offerings banked his last resting place, all tokens of love an sympathy to his wife, children, parents and brothers in their sorrow. Fragrant floral pieces fashioned of the seasons prettiest blossoms came as a fitting tribute to one who will be greatly missed by his loved ones. He was a kind, generous and a patient husband and father. His funeral was largely attended by relatives and friends. Owing to the bad weather many were not able to attend. Mr. Nesloney had many friends here, and in Gonzales county, his old home who will sympathize with his family, in the loss of their dear one.
