Mary was the daughter of Stefan and Roselle Kucera. She married August Skopek, Jr. on 26 December 1900 in Caldwell, Burleson County, Texas. They were the parents of eleven children: Millie (m. Willie Kovar), Rose (m. Horace Lyons), Juliette "Judy" (m. Leroy Hanson), Alfred A. (m. Virginia Lynn, Frances Riddle), Miladie, Mary Ann (m. George Zatopek), Vlasta"Josephine" (m. Claude Bonham), August Laddie "Sonny" (m. Velma Luedke), Hattie (m. James Connally), Gardina (m. Herbert Jaster), and Leona (m. L.W. Williams, James R. Wood). This family farmed around Gus and Caldwell, Texas. Much later in life, they moved to Houston TX to be near their children.
