Bio
Alene Virginia Latham, 93, of Slaton, Texas, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, April 16, 2017, at her residence in Slaton, Texas. Alene was born Wednesday, Oct. 17, 1923, in Lynn County, Texas. She married Wayne Latham on Jan. 1, 1960, completing 57 years of marriage. Alene was preceded in death by her first husband, John Buford Winchester, whom she married Feb. 25, 1944. She graduated Slaton High School in 1941 and was employed by Slaton Independent School District as Jr. High Cafeteria Manager. She was a lifetime active member of the First Baptist Church in Slaton. Survivors include her husband, Wayne Latham; three sons, John Dow and Bobbie Winchester of Fallbrook, CA, Kenneth and Donna Winchester of Slaton, Texas, and Brad and Karen Winchester of Grape Creek, Texas; one daughter, Nita and Derel Williams of Lubbock; brother, William Jones, Slaton; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by son, Malcom W. Latham; grandson, Scott B. Williams; brothers, Roy Jones and Joe Bob Jones; and sisters, Etta Belle Milliken and Linda K Jones.
