Bio

Windell Herbert Murphree of Straight Mountain, AL passed away on April 14, 2017 at the age of 87. Mr. Murphree served in the United States Army as an Artillery Servicemen. He was a member of the Oneonta Worship Center and retired from the United States Postal Service in 1997 after 28 years of service. Mr. Murphree enjoyed farming and fishing during his retirement and loved spending time with his family. He is preceded in death by parents, Wallace and Mandy Murphree; brothers, Melborne and Denford "Dink" Murphree; sisters, Evon Cagle and Edell Shores. Survivors include wife, Margaret Murphree; daughter, Linda Doty (Glen Percey); son, Michael Murphree (Donna); grandchildren, Stacy Doty, Michelle Doty, Chris Murphree (Patty), Jerry Murphree and Terry Murphree; eight great grandchildren; sisters, Florene Moorehouse and Marline Townson (Jimmy); and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends. Pastor Rick Luman will officiate funeral services on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at 11AM from the Chapel of Lemley Funeral Home with burial following at Antioch Cemetery. Mr. Murphree will lie in state at Lemley Funeral Home on Monday, April 17, 2017 from 6PM until 8PM and on Tuesday from 8AM until service time.
