Woody Wendland, 77, of Sioux Falls, SD died Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls. Military Graveside Rites will be rendered at 10:00 AM Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Sioux Falls. Derwood James "Woody" Wendland, son of Walter and Cleo (Rhoades) Wendland, was born January 5, 1940 in Texas. Woody was united in marriage with Nancy Harriman in California. Woody entered the U.S. Air Force on July 12, 1961 at Big Springs, TX. He served his country for over 20 years before retiring. He was honorably discharged as a Master Sergeant on July 31, 1981 at Carswell Air Force Base in Texas. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Nancy, Sioux Falls, SD; three grandchildren, Skylar Larson, Ciara Larson and Aireal Larson; a great-granddaughter, Lexus Larson; a sister, Delores Daniel and her husband, Ronald, Ft. Worth, TX; and many other relatives and friends. Woody was preceded in death by two children, Marcus Wendland and Wendy Larson; and his parents. - George Boom Funeral Home
