OBITUARY Funeral Liturgy for Clarence Joseph "Ky" Roy will be held on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Escudé Funeral Home in Mansura with the Rev. Father Irion St. Romain officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral at 3:00 p.m. Interment will commence in the Cemetery of Saint Paul of Avoyelles, Hydropolis. Clarence Joseph Roy, age 89, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Lafayette General Hospital, after a brief illness with pneumonia. He was born on September 24, 1927 in Mansura, Louisiana and lifelong resident of Long Bridge. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Albin Roy, Jr. & Estelle Cécile Bordelon; former wife, Dorothy Nell Frost Roy; sister, Isma Roy Escudé and brother, Thomas A. Roy III. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Grace Marie Breaux Roy of Long Bridge; children, Sherman David Roy of Arvada, CO, Richard Francis Roy of Lake Charles, Hanna Marie Roy Langston of Carencro, Jessica Roy Dolecheck of Monroe, and Rena Renée Roy of Lafayette and Kelly W. Castle of Addis; 10 grandchildren, Christina Langston Dupuis and Sarah Langston both of Carencro, Morgan Roy and Justin Roy both of Arvada, CO, Kyle Dolecheck, Rachel Dolecheck, Garrett Dolecheck all of Monroe, Ki Knott of Plaucheville, Lexi Castle of Addis, and Camden Roy of Lake Charles. He is also survived by three great-grandsons, Charlie Langston, Lucas Dupuis, Jr. and Brody Dupuis. Mr. Roy was a chemistry teacher at Mansura High School. He and his first wife had several foster children and adopted some of them. He cared for others, for the underprivileged, and loved gardening and his animals. Ky was "un vrai caractère" (a real character) with a vibrant, playful personality. A self-proclaimed alcoholic, he was proud of his sobriety of many years. Ky loved to discuss theology and religion. He was a devoted Catholic, a kind, thoughtful and charitable man of God. Requiescat in pace. Amen.
