Rock Springs Daily Rocket-Miner, Mar 6, 1971 RUFUS WEST Funeral services for Rufus I. (Slim) West, 58, of 721 Rugby Ave., Rock Springs, will be conducted Saturday at 10 a.m. at Vase Funeral Home, Brother LeRoy Hines of the Church of Christ officiating. Graveside services and burial will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Pinedale City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bob Andes, George Arnold, Paul Schmied, William G. Smith, Ted Hamilton and John Varley. Honorary pallbearers included Benny Stewart, Earl Hannah, Rich Stanton, John Dufour, Cal Nordstrom, Bill Jones, Harry Wales and John M. Ervin. Mr. West died Tuesday, March 2, at Sweetwater County Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient 3 ½ hours. A resident of Rock Springs since 1962, he was the superintendent of the Union Pacific Railroad Gasoline Plant at Patrick Draw for E.B. Hall and Co. Born in Freestone County, Tex., Jan. 10, 1913, he was the son of the late Isaac M. and Ida Massey West. He was a member of the Church of Christ and BPO Elks Lodge at Sterling, Colo. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary O. (Jackie) West, June 10, 1967. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Jack (Betty) Osenbaugh of Littleton, Colo.; one son, Maj. Donald R. West, serving with the U.S. Army in Vietnam; four brothers, Gene of Luling, Tex.; Leo of Jacinto City, Tex.; Johnny of Teague, Tex.; and Oran of Dallas, Tex.; four sisters, Mrs. Stella Summers of Mexia, Tex.; Mrs. Cleo McAdams of Fairfield, Tex.; Anna Lee Lancaster of Port Arthur, Tex., and Evelyn West of Dallas; five grandsons and several nieces and nephews.
