His known wife's were: 1). Irene (last name unknown, found living with him and his mother in the 1940 census at Corsicana, Navarro County, Texas). His mother's married name at that time was Broussard. Alvin and Irene were married before 9 April 1940. 2). Edna Earl Griffith, marriage date unknown, she died on 17 Oct 2003. 3). Adella Mew Lan Au, married around 1948. She died on 8 Oct 2010 at Hauula, Honolulu County, Hawaii. Alvin met her while he was in the Army (we believe he was stationed in Hawaii at that time). Alvin's sister Louetta said Alvin was in the Army for 8 years. 4.) Jane Mitsuye Nakayu, married on 17 May 1951, Dominguez, Los Angeles County, California. She died on 11 Jan 2006 at Lake City, Columbia County, Florida. 5.) Lydia Varela, married around 1978. This was his last wife at the time of his death. We understand that late in life that Alvin turned his life around, but before that time he was not a very moral man. Graveside services will be held today at 2 p.m. at the Kerens Cemetery with Dr. Gary Johnson officiating. Mr. Johnson was born September 2, 1922 in Strawn, Palo Pinto County [Texas]. He was the son of Let and Effie Joanna Autry Johnson. He lived in California for 25 years, Corsicana for 5 years, and he lived in Whitney the past 14 years. He married Lydia Varela in 1978. He was a member of the Church of God. He was a Army WWII veteran. Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Lydia Varela of Whitney [Hill County, Texas]; 6 children: Alvin K. Johnson of Medford, Oregon, Kenneth Johnson of Hot Spring, Ar., Juanita Helton of Medford Oregon, Christine L. Johnson of Las Vegas, Nev., Leonard L. Johnson of Springfield, Oregon, Geraldine C. Cornado of Las Vegas, Nev.; 2 brothers, Thomas Hill of Kerens and Leroy Johnson of Pensacola, Florida; a sister, Louetta "Penny" Dockery of Corsicana; 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. Arrangements by Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors.
