LEROY JOHNSON 1924-2004 Leroy Johnson, age 79, of Pensacola passed away on January 7, 2004 surrounded by family and friends after battling heart disease for many year s. He was a member of the Leonard Street Church of Christ. Mr. Johnson bravely served his country in World War II and the Korean Conflict in both the Air Force and the Navy from 1941-1946. He retired from the Armstrong Cork Company in 1978. Preceding him in death was his father, Lit Johnson and his mother, Effie Hill, two brothers, Howard Johnson and Alvin Johnson and his great grandson, Christopher Rikke. Mr. Johnson is lovingly remembered by his his wife of 58 years, Mildred V. Johnson; six children, Shirley Johnson, Mike (Barbara) Johnson, Marilyn Whitehead, Carolyn (Jim) Peal, Myra (Andrew) Sumrall and Howard (Vicki) Johnson. He leaves his sister, Louetta Dockery of Corsicana, TX; brother, Thomas Hill of Kerens, TX; a very special friend, Frances Garrett; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren. Active pallbearers will be grandsons, Brantley Johnson, Andrew Sumrall, I V, Marcus Dewberry, Russell Phillips, Kent Thames and Russell Thames, Jason Wells. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Mack, Bud Percell, Joe Rigby, W.C. Rayburn, Brian McCown, Joe Renne. Family visitation will be Friday, January 9, 2004 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North, Cantonment. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 10, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the Leonard Street Church of Christ with Bro. John Gaines, officiating. Interment will follow at Eastern Gate Cemetery, Nine Mile Road. Faith Chapel Funeral Home North, Cantonment, is in charge of arrangements. -------------------------
