Bio

Joe L. Bartosh, age 91 of Penelope, passed away Monday afternoon, January 4, 1993 in a Waco hospital. Rosary was recited 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Catholic Church of Nativity, B.V.M. in Penelope. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Catholic Church of Nativity, B.V.M. in Penelope, with Rev. John Molnar as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery, Penelope. Mr. Bartosh was born May 5, 1901 near West and had lived all of his life in Penelope. He was a retired farmer and member of the K.J.T. in Penelope. He married Mary Knapek, October 18, 1921 in Penelope. Survivors include his wife, Mary of Penelope; three daughters, Mrs. Johnnie (Irene) Hynek of Penelope, Mrs. Jerry (Josephine) Grones of West and Leona McCullough of Waco; one son, James Bartosh of Waco; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family has requested that memorials be made to the Catholic Church of Nativity, B.V.M. Building Fund or the West Volunteer Ambulance Association. Pallbearers were James Ray Bartosh, Jr., Larry Hynek, Gary Grones, Richard Bartosh, Alvin Sykora and Edmund Sykora. Kotch Funeral Home in West was in charge of arrangements.
