Oberhauser, 57, 672 – 10th Avenue, Columbus, died Wednesday morning in Archbishop Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha following a lengthy illness. Rev. Laurin Buzynski will conduct the 10 a.m. funeral services Friday at St. Anthonys Church. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery with military graveside services. Visiting hours are now in progress at McKown Funeral Home where Holy Name Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. and Parish Rosary at 7:30 p.m. He was born April 23, 1921 to Tony and Elsie (Hamling) Oberhauser at Lindsay, Neb. He attended Creighton University, receiving his BS in 1949 and his MS in 1957; NSF Institute; University of South Dakota at Vermillian, 1963; NDEA Media Institute, 1968, West Virginia St. College. He was married to Regina Tomes June 3, 1947, in Omaha. He served as Superintendent of Schools at Ruskin, Monroe, Humphrey, Duncan, and _____. He was a member of the United States Marine Corps from 1942-46, 5th Amphibious Corps in Pacific, overseas from 1943 to 1945. He was instrumental in organizing the Duncan Lions Club and served as charter president from 1961 to 1963; was president of Platte County Education Association from 1957 to 1959; was a member of the American Legion, Elks, Platte County Agriculture Scholarship Commission for five years and an active alumnus of Creighton University. Survivors include his wife; daughter Mrs. Bob (Mary Pat) Hughes, Milpitas, Calf.; granddaughters, Melanie and Andrea; parents of Columbus; brothers and sisters, Jerome of Lindsay, Mrs. Dorothy Schaefer and Mrs. Dennis (Betty) Steiner of Columbus, Bill of Grand Island, Gene of Omaha, Tony of Bellevue; 10 nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by a nephew Tom Schaefer. Memorials are acceptable to the American Cancer fund.
