Alma M. Mounce, 88, of Ky. 192, Somerset, died Friday, April 23, 1999 at Midtown Nursing Home. She was born June 4, 1910 in the Ruth community, a daughter of the late Presley and Eva Alexander Stewart. She was retired from Palm Beach, where she worked as a seamstress. She was a member of the White Lily Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School. She taught piano lessons and sang on WSFC radio. She is survived by her husband, Ottis Riley Mounce, whom she married January 20, 1932 in Ruth; two sons, Howard (and Ruth) Mounce of Cincinnati, Ohio and Johnny (and Helen) Mounce of Somerset; two daughters, Bernita Meece and Lucille (and William) Hargis, both of Somerset; one brother, Murrell (and Pauline) Stewart of Somerset; three sisters, Edna Miller, Eva (and Dewey) Ping, and Maxine Miller, all of Somerset; 12 grandchildren, Mike Hargis, Gary Hargis, Danny Mounce, Robin Harris, Sandra K. Stevens, Barbara Bullock, Sam Mounce, Tammy Schmidt, Tony Keith, Theresa Muse, Angie Lowery, and Jeffrey Meece; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son-in-law, James Meece; one brother, Ferrell Stewart; two sisters, Hazel Holt and Sarah Hargis; and one grandson, Robert Meece. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of New Brothers Funeral Home, with Bro. Bernard Meece officiating. Burial will be in the White Lily Cemetery.
