ORD — James F. “Jim” Grim, 78, of Ord passed away Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2016, at home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Ord Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Rob Pearson will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord City Cemetery. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. James Frankie was born July 2, 1938, at Sargent to J. Lowell and Eva (Peters) Grim. He spent his childhood in Sargent, Iowa and Colorado. While living in Colorado, Jim worked on a Mink Ranch. On July 2, 1957, Jim was united in marriage to Julie Ann Hingeley at Golden, Colo. The couple spent seven years in Colorado before moving to Greenfield, Iowa, where Jim worked for a cattle feeder. They returned to Colorado for a short time and then moved to Sargent. While living in Sargent, Jim was the Chief of Police. In 1965, the couple settled in Ord. Jim helped George Cetak on his Mink Ranch and was a meat cutter at Jack & Jill Grocery Store. For 35 years Jim worked at Country Partners Co-op, driving a semi-truck for the last 10 years of his career there. After retirement in 2011, Jim enjoyed woodworking, making toys and flowers. As a young man he enjoyed hunting. He was a fisherman and traveled to Canada with family and friends to fish. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Jolene “Jo” and Doug Abbott of Ord and Janiece “Jan” and Gregg Wetzel of Ord; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Julie, who passed away on Feb. 21, 2011; twin grandsons, Kyle and Curtis Bloom; two sisters, Kathy Grim and Karen Kriss; and a brother, Everett Grim.
