Bio
"Tony", Stephen A. Winkel was born to J. A. Winkel and Ernestine McKenzie Winkel. He graduated from Cayuga High School and attended Henderson County Junior College and Stephen F. Austin University. He formed his own construction company in 1976 and pursued his dreams. Throughout his career he never considered it work but rather a passion, developing lifelong friendships along the way. He was a member of First Christian Church and a former Lone Pine Water Supply board member. He was preceded in death by his parents J.A. and Ernestine McKenzie Winkel and nephew John Costlow. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Loyie Crist Winkel and two sons, Stephen Travis Winkel (Kris Hall) and Jordan Corley Winkel (Kristina); grandchildren Madison, Kolbi and James; brother Todd Winkel; sisters Ann Brown and Tobin Winkel; sister-in-law Joyie Herrington (Jeff) and other extended family. Pallbearers will be: Alec Law, Jay Herrington, Jeff Herrington, Tom Calhoun, Stephen Winkel and Jordan Winkel. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Crutcher and Wayne Croft. Visitation will be from 1*2 pm Thursday, December 1, 2016 with services following at 2:00 PM at Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.
