ELWOOD — Lyle Martin Pfeiffer, 85, of Arapahoe died Friday, Nov. 25, 2016, at Elwood Care Center. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe with the Rev. James Moshier officiating. Burial will be at Arapahoe Cemetery. Wenburg Funeral Chapel in Arapahoe is in charge of the arrangements. He was born July 24, 1931, in Frontier County to Cornelius H. and Ida M. (Schutz) Pfeiffer. He attended parochial school for a few years and graduated from Elwood High School. He married Lois Maxine Menze on Sept. 21, 1952. They farmed and ranched near Elwood before moving to Arapahoe in 1960. They later would move to Holbrook. Lois passed away on May 21, 1996. He married Bonnie D. Breinig Wendland on Dec. 12, 1998. Bonnie passed away on Jan. 31, 2008. After selling the farm and retiring, he moved into Sunshine Village in Arapahoe. Lyle was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe and was involved with the church in many different capacities. He had a love of horses and music. He especially enjoyed playing the guitar and singing. Lyle is survived by his sons, Gary and wife Cynthia Pfeiffer of Worland, Wyo., Larry and wife Pam Pfeiffer of Arapahoe and Dwight and wife Ann Pfeiffer of Alliance; daughter, Donna and husband Larry Kuskie of Alliance; brothers, Alvin and wife Isabelle Pfeiffer of Arapahoe, Dale and wife Pat Pfeiffer of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Lloyd and wife Erma Pfeiffer of Arapahoe; sisters, Delores Oelkers of Elwood, Ardella and husband Duane Brand of Holdrege, Elaine Farr of Eustis and Dorthea and husband LeMoyne Niemeier of Elwood; stepson, LeRoy and wife Kristine Wendland of Elwood; stepdaughters, Diann and husband Steve Cooksley of Elwood and Elizabeth Heckenlively of Scottsbluff; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and nine stepgreat-grandchildren. Lyle was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Lois and Bonnie; infant twin siblings; and two brothers-in-law, Art Oelkers and Floyd Farr.
