From the "Abilene Reporter-News", 25 May 2005: COMANCHE -- Lola Mae RIPLEY- WEST, age 100 years, four months and twelve days, of Comanche, died Monday, May 23, 2005 at Western Hills Healthcare Residence in Comanche. She was born on January 11, 1905 in Meridian, Mississippi to Samuel FORTSON and Alice (CARPENTER) FORTSON. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Mrs. WEST was a homemaker. Mrs. WEST was united in marriage to L.S. RIPLEY on September 12, 1922 in Blanket. He preceded her in death in May, 1972. She later married Roy WEST, who also preceded her in death. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Vernon and Clydalene RIPLEY, Moore, Oklahoma; daughter, Lois HARVICK of Gustine; daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Benny GALLAWAY of Abilene; twenty grandchildren; forty-one great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four children, Doris RIPLEY-HUMPHRY, Elton RIPLEY, John RIPLEY, and Curtis RIPLEY. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 28, 2005 at the Comanche Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Patrick FARRISH officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Comanche with Comanche Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at Comanche Funeral Home on Friday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. COMANCHE FUNERAL HOME COMANCHE, TEXAS
