From Schaetter Funeral Home: Atley Otto Usener of Fredericksburg, Texas passed away in the Knopp Nursing & Rehab Center in Fredericksburg on Tuesday, November 8th, 2016 at the age of 89 years. He was born July 17th, 1927 in Gillespie County, Texas the son of Otto Usener & Lillie Schmidt Usener, married Doris Ann Jalufka of Hallettsville, Texas, on Tuesday, August 11th, 1964 in Christ Lutheran Church, in Corpus Christi, Texas, and was married by Rev. L.J. Durkop, who was then pastor at Holy Ghost Church in Fredericksburg. Atley was a school teacher for 38 years, and gardener and rancher all his life. Preceded in death by his parents, by a son, Lars Usener, brothers, Paul and Raymond Usener, sisters, Gertrude Ella, Mrs. Clarence Lochte and Elise Alma, Mrs. Dee Richard Olson. He is survived by the following, his wife, Doris Ann Jalufka Usener of Fredericksburg, daughter and spouse, Joy & Jim Clark of Las Vegas, Nevada, sister & spouse, Vernell & Harvey Ellebracht of Fredericksburg, sister in law, Anita Usener of Fredericksburg, numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Atley Usener will be held on Monday, November 14th, 2016 at 1:00 P. M. in the Holy Ghost Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg, with Pastor David Priem officiating. Graveside services and interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery in Fredericksburg. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials in his memory be made to the Holy Ghost Church Building Fund, San Antonio Cancer Research, or Wounded Warriors Projest. Visitation will be on Sunday afternoon from 4 to 6:00 P.M. and on Monday morning from 7 to 11:15 A.M. in the Schaetter Funeral Home in Fredericksburg, and from 12 Noon to 1:00 P.M. in the Holy Ghost Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg.
