Bio

After living life to its fullest Regina, 93, joined Ben in heaven on January 20, 2011. Her passing is not filled with sorrow but with loving memories of life shared with us. Regina Lichnovsky Zabcik was born on Sept 7, 1917 to Roman and Marie Dudik Lichnovsky in Penolope, Texas. Childhood was spent in West, Texas before moving to Temple where her father introduced her to Ben Zabcik. They married on March 25th, 1940 and lived in Meeks where Ben ran a grocery store. After WWII, they moved to the family farm in Zabcikville. She was a beautiful lady, a best friend to many, a wonderful mother, a loving grandma and great grandma. She would light up a room with her smile. She had unconditional love and we could all count on her strength and support. She was a homemaker, a seamstress who made quilts for her children and their families, and a cook who could stretch a simple meal to feed whoever stopped by. Regina and Ben were leaders in the community. Regina went door to door asking people to sign up for the first telephone system (a wooden, hand-crank phone). Ben helped build a lunchroom at the Seaton School and after the school closed, Regina worked with others to transform it into a Senior Citizens Center and Community Center. She was active in the Ocker Brethren Church taking leadership roles in the Christian Sisters, Bible School, Sunday School, and provided fresh flowers for Sunday Services. She was active in the SPJST Lodge 24, and supported Ben, who served as Financial Secretary of the SPJST Supreme Lodge. Retirement was spent traveling extensively. Regina is survived by her daughters, Barbara and husband Bill Docekal of McKinney, Betty Jean and husband Greg Hall of Georgetown, 5 grandchildren and 9 Great-Grandchildren: Debbie and husband Shane Desselle and Brittney of Tulsa, OK, Gail and husband Rick Bruno, Juliana and Sofia of Carrollton, Drew and Jennifer Hall, Morgan, Kennedy and Ryan of Round Rock, Cory and wife Jennifer Hall, Reese, Kendall and Jake of Midland, and Tyler and fiancé Meredith Hooten of Lubbock, and one sister Martha Dubcak. Memorials may be made to the Ocker Brethren Church, 17454 ST. HY 53, Temple, 76501 or to the Czech Heritage Museum & Genealogy Center, P.O. Box 434, Temple, 76503. We want to thank the staff at Hearthstone Assisted Living, and Vista Care Hospice. Visitation at Crawford-Bowers Funeral home on Sun Jan 23 4-6 pm. Services at Ocker Church in Zabcikville, on Monday, Jan 24 10am. Arrangements under the direction of Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, Temple, TX.
