James Ronald Argotsinger, 75, of Smithville, MO passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2016. He was born on June 14, 1941 to Kenneth B. and Betty (Riddle) Argotsinger in Dow City, IA where he grew up and graduated from Woodbine High School in 1959. James attended Graceland College in Lamoni, IA before transferring to the University of Nebraska where he received his Bachelors of Science in Pharmacology in 1965. On June 22, 1963, he was united in marriage to Karen Marilee Boyer. After their marriage, they lived in Lincoln, NE, Glenwood, IA, and Indianola, IA. In 1968, Jim and Karen purchased Newcomb’s Pharmacy in Creston, IA. They later renamed it to Village Center Incorporated and added a fabric store, waterbed store and small café. Jim worked for Wal-Mart Pharmacy in Kirksville, MO for 7 years. In 1993, they moved to Smithville and ran the Smithville Pharmacy from 1992-1998. Jim then worked as a relief pharmacist for RPH on the Go before taking a position with the Red Cross Pharmacy in Excelsior Spring until his accident in 2002. Jim was a loving husband and father and was very proud of all his grandchildren. He was a very kind, warm hearted, generous person who opened his home to all. He was a member of the Lions Club, Auxiliary Police Force, and the Chamber of Commerce all in Creston, IA. While in Creston, he was an Elder in the RLDS Church. Jim was also a member of the Model A Club in Smithville. Jim was preceded in death by his wife Karen; his parents Kenneth and Betty; brother Dennis Argotsinger; brother-in-law Steven Anderson and nephew Scott Argotsinger. He is survived by children, Carol Rice and husband Adam, Rodney Argotsinger and wife Chanda, Kenda Argotsinger, Melanie (Mike) Johnson, and Den-Ny (Rick Housler) Hwang; grandchildren, Joshua and Alex, Meghan and Les, Michael, Tiffany, Emily, and Matthew; great-grandchildren, Desiree, Xearianna, and Daymien; brothers, Larry (Bonnie) Argotsinger and Gale Argotsinger; sisters, Patty McGuire, Diana (Jay) Lowrey, Judy Anderson, and Debbie (Lee) Fillian; sister-in-law Connie Argotsinger; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 29th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville with visitation from 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
