SMSgt. Lyle Thomas Stephens, Sr. USAF Ret. Born February 10, 1931 in Greeley, Nebraska, died Monday December 18, 2000. He is survived by his wife, of 50 years, Grace; children, Lyle Thomas "Tom" (Karol) Stephens, Jr., Timothy Ira Stephens, Angela Grace (Rebecca Zavala) Stephens, James Everett Stephens, Aaron James Stephens; grandchildren, Stephanie DuPree, Stacy Lopez, Kelly Stephens, Michael Stephens, Trevor Stephens; greatgrandchildren, Dante, Chance, DeAndra, Ariana, Emmalie, Chris, Chelsea; sisters, Rosela Campo, Margaret Cook, Helen Hall; brother, Donald Stephens; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Stephens retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1970 and moved to Tucson in 1971. A business owner, he founded Blue Star Electric and Tucson Transport, Inc. He was a major contributor to many Tucson Charities. He will receive, posthumously, the National Leadership Award from the Republican Congregational Committee for the Businessman of the Year for Arizona for the year 2000. A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 21, 2000 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd. A Scripture Service will be at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 22, 2000 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 300 Tanque Verde Loop Rd. Interment will follow at East Lawn Palms Cemetery. Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Corpus Christi Catholic Church building fund.
