Hammos died Saturday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Services will be at Peters Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. James C. Nance officiating. Burial will be in Memoryland Memorial Park. Born Feb. 12, 1913, in Hopkins County, he was the son of John and Jeanette Lawson Hammons. On July 3, 1952, he married Jeannie Harbin in Greenville. Mr. Hammons was a retired carpenter and member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife; sons, Carl E. Hammons Jr. of Greenville, Bobby John Hammons of Lewisville and Charles Hall of Houston; daughters, Margaret Burton of Waxahachie, Jo Dillard of Dallas and Ann Gentry of Greenville; brother, Aubrey Hammons of Dallas; and 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters. Mark Henderson, Brent Burton, Larry Hood and Tom Foster will serve as pallbearers.
