Bio

John married wife Dorothy on February 6, 1817. John Morgan Minter was the first Minter to come to Hopkins County, Texas, from Georgia in 1853. The rest of the family came in 1855. Back in Georgia he had been a State Representative and State Sentor. John, a well to do farmer, helped found Pine Forest, Texas, in 1855, and later owned most of the lots in the town. John's wife Dorthy Brooks (Mathis) Minter died before John left Georgia, and is buried in Buenia Vista, Georgia, cemetery in Marion County, Georgia. John is said to be the first person to be buried in Pine Forest Cemetery.
