Bio

Willis Doran Dunbar, 90, of Taylor, Nebraska, passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2016 at the Valley County Hospital. Willis was born September 23, 1926 at the homestead to Chester and Rita (Hyde) Dunbar. Willis graduated from Taylor High School in 1944 and served his country in the Army (1944 - 1946), stationed in Japan. Willis was one of the last World War II veterans residing in Loup County. Willis married Enola Fleming on October 12, 1947 in Taylor, Nebraska. They lived on the ranch west of Almeria until they moved to Taylor in 1988. Willis was a lifelong rancher, neighbor, and friend to all. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, farming, and ranching. Most of all, he enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren and great - grandchildren. He was a kind and generous man who loved God and his country. Willis never knew a stranger. Willis is survived by: a sister, Viona Sandoz; brother, Chester Dunbar; six children, Dennis and Lila Dunbar, Duane and Judy Dunbar, Bernard and Gayle Dunbar, Paul and Deb Dunbar, Karen and Greg Everson, and Julie and Doug Wilcox; Twenty two grandchildren; and twenty nine great grandchildren. Willis was preceded in death by his wife of nearly sixty-seven years, Enola; parents; five sisters, Roena, Beulah, Alice, Corrine, and Esta; and three brothers, L.D., Evan, and Galen. Funeral services on Tuesday, October 4, 2016, at the Assembly of God Church in Taylor, Nebraska. Burial in the Moulton Cemetery near Taylor, Nebraska.
