Greenville (Texas) Herald Banner, Fri, 28 May 1971, page 2, Deaths, Cooper Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today in Wesley United Methodist Church for Ray J. Cooper, 57, a former Greenville resident who died Monday at his home in Crossett, Ark. The Rev. James M. Gatlin and the Rev. Cecil Ellis will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Jessie Lemmons, Cecil Billingslea, Jack Griggs, Richard Benesch, George Mitchell , Jr., and Hewitt Moseley. Born June 17, 1913, in Rains County, he was the son of Frank and Emma Goodwin Cooper. He married the former Wilma Huddleston Dec. 14, 1935, in Rains County. A salesman with Burnham-Pharr, Mr. Cooper was a former Sunday school superintendent for Wesley United Methodist Church and former president of the Administrative Board. The family requests that memorial donations be made to the pipe organ fund at Wesley Methodist Church. Survivors include the son, Mike Cooper of Greenville, one daughter, Mrs. Raylene Banks of Greenville; and one grandson, Kevin Banks of Greenville. He was preceded in death by his wife on Sept. 14, 1969.
