Harry Dean Eakins, 78, of Drakesville, Iowa died April 8, 2011 at Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa. He was born December 26, 1932 in Drakesville, Iowa to Harry and Lucille Rudd Eakins. He married Lois Elaine Riedel August 4, 1963 in Bloomfield, Iowa. Dean served in the United States Army, was a sheep shearer, and a farmer. Dean was a good, hard working, honest man. He loved farm life and took great pride in his cttle. He is survived by his wife: two daughters, Sharry(John)Fipps of Drakesville, Iowa, Brenda(Mike)Johnson of Bloomfield, Iowa; a son, Nolan Eakins of Bloomfield; five grandchildren, Kaitin, Kristin and Klaire Fipps, Keelie and Nicholes Johnson; a brother, Donald(Marieta)Eakins of Drakesville; and a sister, Margaret Turner of Carlisle, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am on Monday, April 11, 2011 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Kevin Gingerich officiating. Burial with graveside military rites performed by Reed-Whisler Post #78 of the American Legion in Bloomfield will be at the Drakesville Cemetery in Drakesville. Memorials have been established to the Drakesville and Bloomfield United Methodist Churches and to Good Smaritan Hospice.
