SERVICES SET FOR CHARLES PRASIFKA, FORMER NEWS EMPLOYEE Dallas Morning News, The (TX) — Wednesday, December 21, 1988 A rosary will be said for Charles Prasifka, a 41-year employee of The Dallas Morning News, at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Crane Weiland Chapel in Dallas. A funeral Mass will be said at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Dallas. Burial will follow at Calvary Hill Mausoleum. Mr. Prasifka died early Tuesday morning at Baylor Hospital in Dallas after a lengthy illness. He was 94. He was born in Rockdale, Milam County, and attended Metropolitan Business College. After college, he worked for a produce company. He then served in the U.S. Army ambulance corps in France during World War I. Upon his discharge from the service, he began work for The News in the production office. He retired from the newspaper in December 1960, but continued to work as part-owner of the family grocery store, Prasifka Brothers. After he retired, he became a licensed real estate broker and formed Pralind Realty Co., with his wife. He was a member of Lodge S.P.J.S.T. for more than 50 years. He and his wife researched the genealogy of the Prasifkas and in 1976 he published a book detailing the descendants of the Czechoslovakian family. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Lindberg Prasifka of Dallas; a daughter, Mildred Baleja of Dallas; sons Walter Praskifa of Fort Worth and Raymond Prasifka of Baton Rouge, La.; sisters Julia Prasifka of Dallas, Mary Schroeder of Dallas, and Betty Deiterman of West, McLennan County; brothers Frank Prasifka of Dallas and Louis Prasifka of Dallas; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. * The Texas flag in front of the Dallas Morning News building will be flown at half-staff Thursday in honor of Charles Prasifka.
