Sioux City Journal - Dec. 30 1990 Genevieve S. Thomazin, 76, 1324 Morningside Avenue, died Friday, Dec. 28, 1990, at a Sioux City Hospital after a brief illness. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Church, with Monsignor Thomas Donahoe officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. today with an Altar Society rosary at 4 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m. at the Larkin Morningside Funeral Home. Mrs. Thomazin, the former Genevieve S. Winkler, was born Jan. 17, 1914, in Lindsay, Neb. She graduated from Holy Family High School in Lindsay in 1931, then attended Wayne State College, the University of Kentucky, Midland College, the University of South Dakota, and received her degree from Morningside College. She married William G. Thomazin April 11, 1942, in Lindsay. They came to Sioux City in 1952 from Nebraska. William died April 16, 1967 in Rochester, Minn. She taught school for 38 years in Nebraska and at Immaculate Conception and Longfellow Schools in Sioux City. She retired in 1979. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Altar Society, church Women United, and had been a C.C.D. teacher. She was a Cub Scout leader and a member of the Iowa retired Teachers Association. Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, William and Jeanne of Shoreview, Minn., and James of Council Bluffs, Iowa; two daughters and sons-in-laws, Mary Lou and Terrence O'Gorman of Sioux City and Elizabeth and Jeff Burger of Bowie, Md.: four sisters, Sr. Mary Elise O.S.F. of Manitowoc, Wis., Ethel Tibbels of Oakland, Neb., Elizabeth Winkler of Omaha and LuGene Broberg of Dodge City, Kan.: nine grandchildren, Todd, John, Molly and Mark O'Gorman, Chris and Erin Thomazin, and Phillip, Michael and David Burger
