Mary, a lifelong resident of Malin, died of natural causes on Friday, May 13, 2016. She was born in 1928 in the one-room cabin on the family homestead in Malin. After graduating from Malin High School, she attend Mills Business College in Oakland, Calif., before accepting the job as office manager for Loveless Sawmills. On New Year's Eve 1949, she married Ival Taylor and they farmed together for the next 60 years. She was instrumental in starting the Malin Coffee Clutch, the Malin Home Extension Group, was Malin City records manager and started and ran Taylor Hunters Cabins for 20 years to pay for the education of her three sons in private schools. She was president of Women for Agriculture and met with Richard Nixon, Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan. She loved to travel and, after the death of her husband, lived alone in her home in Klamath Falls, where she could be close to friends, garden and remain interested in politics. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ival C. Taylor; her parents, Frank and Mary Elzner; and her brothers, Franklin and Lincoln Elzner. She is survived by her sister, Emily Loerke of Medford; her three sons and their families, son Jerry of Dayton, Ohio, grandsons Todd Taylor of Bellcamp, Md., Gregory (Kimberly) Taylor, Oxford, Wis., with great-grandchildren Matthew and Joshua; son Douglas of Walla Walla, Wash.; and son Roger (Maarit) Taylor of Malin with grandchildren Evan, Tiana, Nicolas, and Sabrina.
